Our Programs

At Maburra Collective Inc., our programs are grounded in culture, connection, and community, and are designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families to heal, grow, and create lasting change.

We take a trauma-informed, strength-based approach, recognising that each person’s journey is unique. Our work centres the voices, experiences, and knowledge of our women, while creating safe spaces for learning, reflection, and connection.

Our programs are designed to be:

  • Culturally safe and responsive
  • Community-led and relational
  • Healing-centred and strengths-based
  • Practical, accessible, and empowering

Through workshops, community engagement, and emerging online learning, we aim to support women to build confidence, strengthen independence, and access the supports they need to move forward in their own way.

At Maburra, we are committed to walking alongside our women, creating pathways that honour culture, dignity, and self-determination.

Strong women - strong futures

Maburra Collective Inc. is proud to announce the delivery of Strong Women - Strong Futures: DFV Financial Well-being Program - funded by the Office of Women under the Empowering Qld Womens grant program.

Strong Women - Strong Futures is a culturally grounded, trauma-informed financial well-being program developed by Maburra Collective Inc. to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, particularly those who are experiencing or have experienced financial hardship, financial abuse, or domestic and family violence.

This program recognises that financial well-being is not just about money, it is about safety, control, and the ability to make informed choices. It takes a holistic approach, centring connection to culture, Country, family, and community as the foundation for rebuilding independence and stability

Delivered through the lens of Cultural Triage & a Circle of Safety framework, the program creates a respectful and supportive space where women can engage at their own pace, without pressure or judgement.

Strong Women Strong Futures supports participants to:

  • Understand their financial situation
  • Recognise and respond to financial abuse
  • Regain control over their finances
  • Access financial and community supports
  • Build confidence and long-term financial independence

The program is delivered through workshops, community sessions, and online learning, providing flexible and accessible pathways for women to engage in ways that feel safe and appropriate for them.

At its core, this program is about more than finances - it is about rebuilding, healing, & creating strong futures for Our Women - Our Way.

Maburra respectfully acknowledges the Wulgurukaba and Bindal people, whose land and sea we live and work.  As collective of many voices that contribute to healing, we acknowledge all custodians of the land on which we journey, honoring their enduring presence, resilience and wisdom.

We pay our deepest respects to our Grandmothers, Our Mothers, Our Aunties and Our Sista’s whose strength will guide us in our collective responsibilities to heal self, our women, our young people, our families and our community.
